Fragrance

“Write what you want to read. It’s that simple. If you enjoy it, chances are so will a lot of other people.”
— Nicholas Catron, author of The Spaces Between

She stood in front of the mirror, looking at her reflection. It was perfect. Exactly the way she wanted it to be on that particular night. Yet, it seemed as if something was missing. But was it she wondered…

Then she caught sight of the red bottle nestled between the many bottles of perfume kept on her dressing table. Yes! That is what is missing! She gently reached out for the bottle, opened its cap, and sprinkled the fragrance just a little below her garment neckline. All at once, ecstasy engulfed her soul; the fragrance seemed to liberate her as if lifting her off the ground…

“A perfectly healthy sentence, it is true, is extremely rare. For the most part we miss the hue and fragrance of the thought; as if we could be satisfied with the dews of the morning or evening without their colors, or the heavens without their azure.” – Henry David Thoreau
