duende – what a lovely word!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Duende or tener duende (“having duende”) loosely means having soul, a heightened state of emotion, expression and authenticity, often connected with flamenco.[1] The artistic and especially musical term was derived from the duende, a fairy or goblin-like creature in Spanish mythology.

She could hear
whispers
Inside her heart.

She knew she had to
Sing her song.

She knew it was time…

brief water

Sitting in
The dark
Drenching herself
In moonlight,
She closed her eyes…

Centuries telescoped
Through the brief water of
Her eyes.

All at once,
She saw spring
Sprouting flowers
Bursting in Joy.
